Conservation Easements

Our Mission

Collaboration is essential for effective conservation efforts, and Nature’s Negotiators is committed to bringing all stakeholders to the table. By working together, we can find sustainable solutions that benefit both people and the environment. Conservation Easements are an excellent example of how collaboration can benefit everyone involved, including landowners, conservation organizations, and the broader community.

What is a conservation easement?

Conservation Easements are one of the most effective tools available for preserving land and natural resources. These legal agreements between a landowner and a conservation organization, government agency or other entity restrict the development, use, and subdivision of land to protect its natural, scenic or cultural values. Conservation easements have many benefits, including preserving wildlife habitat, protecting water quality, promoting sustainable agriculture and forestry, and mitigating the effects of climate change. Easements also provide economic benefits to landowners by reducing property taxes and estate taxes, and in some cases, generating income through conservation-based land use practices. By placing their land under a conservation easement, landowners can ensure that their property will be protected for future generations while still retaining ownership and use rights. This can be especially important for families who wish to pass their land down to their children or grandchildren while ensuring that it remains protected from development. Overall, Conservation Easements are an excellent tool for achieving sustainable conservation goals while also providing benefits to landowners. By working together with all stakeholders, including landowners, conservation organizations, and government agencies, we can ensure that our wild resources are protected and preserved for generations to come.

What do Nature's Negotiators hope to do with Conservation Easements?

Partner with Private Landowners

We hope to negotiate with private landowners to place portions of their lands into Conservation Easements to to protect migration routes and preserve habitats.

Fundraise for Support

We plan to fundraise to provide publicity, legal assistance, and funds to make this happen. We also hope to work with Native American tribal entities to secure them as Land Trusts.

Purchase land for Conservation Easements

We hope to purchase lands to protect migration routes and preserve key habitats; ideally placing our Conservation Easements with Native American held land trusts.

We need an immediate solution to protect the environment. Conservation easements can help us take powerful steps to protect it in the best interest of all parties involved. At this point in history, we still have the ability to make a tangible difference in the fight for Earth’s health and safety. As Jane Goodall puts it, we still have hope.
